Roughing out the Top Braces

Using a specially constructed caul to glue in the bridge plate.  This bridge plate is special, being made of bird's eye maple.  Completely unnecessary to use this special version of maple since plain maple will function the same.  Bird's eye is beautiful stuff, and nobody will ever see it inside the instrument.  But I know it's there.  And now you do, too.  By the way, the bottom of the caul touching the plate is curved at the 28' radius, just like all of the other braces.

A nice look at the lovely top in natural sunlight.

Starting to rough out the braces.  By hand, of course.

A look at the workspace.  Wish you were here to smell the wood and have a beer with me.

SO DO I!
When I'm playing this guitar I frequently stop and apply my olfactory proboscis to the soundhole and inhale the woody scent(s).
