New project completed - Newtonian Telescope

Ross and I built a 6" reflector telescope during the Spring. It was a really fun project and it is amazing how much we can see from just our own backyard. The scope was made from a mirror given to us by a friend, Joe Sabin, from the OLF. The mirror is a f10, handmade by Joe many years ago. I got the spider on EBAY and the tube from a concrete construction supply place in Chicago. The tripod is from our neighbors, Charlie and Suzy. My Grandfather, Brooks, made one like this before I was born, grinding the mirror by hand. It makes me feel connected.

Well, well, Joe! Nice to get your approval. Thanks for checking in! We have upgraded this a bit since this was posted and found a bigger dob, too. This is almost as infectious as building guitars...
